Okay, so I finally finished watching Season 1 of Netflix’s Building the Band—and whew, I have thoughts. First of all, imagine the setup of Love Is Blind, but instead of dating, it’s all about vocals, vibes, and forming the ultimate band. Yep. Contestants are in pods where they only hear each other sing. They can’t see each other and have no idea what anyone looks like. It’s all about the voice and potential chemistry. Obsessed already? Me too.

Each contestant gets 10 likes to give out, and singers need at least 5 likes to move forward. After mutual likes, they chat to see if the musical chemistry is real. From there, they can form bands made up of 3 to 5 people. But here’s the twist—only 6 bands can be formed the entire season. So yep, it’s competitive and slightly chaotic in the best way.

The bands that were formed? Here’s the lineup:

  • Szn 4 (Mixed group)
  • 3Quency (Girl group)
  • Siren Society (Girl group)
  • Sweet Seduction (Girl group)
  • Soulidified (Boy band)
  • Midnight til Morning (Boy band)

Let’s talk band chemistry. Most of them vibed really well. But Sweet Seduction… not so much. The group was made up of Alison, Elise, and Haley, and honestly, they clashed hard. It felt like three leaders in one band, constantly fighting for control. Alison gave off what some might call bitch vibes, but I saw her as more of a strong soloist type who just doesn’t like to be told what to do. Girl’s got drive—but she needs to listen, too. Elise and Haley brought talent to the table but deserved more say in the band’s direction.

Then there’s Midnight til Morning. One of the guys, Conor, got a little sidetracked in the beginning—he was too busy flirting with Alison to focus on rehearsals. (Messy.) But thankfully, the other members (Zach, Shane, and Matt) snapped him out of it, and the group came together in the end.

Now let’s get into my band ranking—aka, the completely correct and factual order:

  1. Szn 4 – Literal chills.
  2. 3Quency – Powerhouse vocals, super tight.
  3. Soulidified – Smooth harmonies, boy band charm.
  4. Midnight til Morning – Bumpy start but good payoff.
  5. Siren Society – Underrated, tbh.
  6. Sweet Seduction – Not a band… yet.

Szn 4 is hands-down my favorite. The first time they sang together, it felt like they had been rehearsing for weeks. But nope—they only had an hour to prep before performing in front of the host AJ McLean and their mentor Nicole Scherzinger. What’s wild is that they didn’t rehearse together—they each learned their own part and then came together live. And when I tell you they harmonized like angels… 💫✨ Goosebumps. Their performance of “Human” by Rag’n’Bone Man was everything. Their tones, their emotion, their blend—it was magic.

Meanwhile, Sweet Seduction… just no. They fought, overlapped vocals, lacked chemistry, and honestly shouldn’t have made it past the first round. Siren Society deserved their spot way more. At least they acted like a group. And this is juicy: on Instagram, it came out that Jenna from Siren Society can whistle! The other girls—Autumn, Noriela, and Erica—were like, wait, what?! because they didn’t know during filming. Autumn even joked “Hey Nicole, we want a whistle battle with Sweet Seduction!” 😂 Iconic. I really think Siren Society has potential if they lean into their inner Pussycat Dolls energy.

And here’s the kicker—3Quency won the whole thing. Don’t get me wrong, they’re amazing. But in my opinion? Szn 4 deserved that win. Every time they sang, I was feeling it. They gave voice, they gave soul, they gave band.

Final Thoughts:
Building the Band is part singing competition, part social experiment, and all the way binge-worthy. From vocal showdowns to behind-the-pod drama, I was hooked. I can’t wait for Season 2—and if Netflix gives me a say, Szn 4 better be front and center.

Until next time,
Scarlette 💋
